T-PABC Coaches Intermediate Training RPI and Breakaways – Adults

Course Description

Intermediate Physical Restraint and Breakaway Training

Duration – 1 or 2 Days
These courses introduce additional restraint and breakaway techniques as a supplement to those taught on the foundation course.

Who is this training suitable for?

Staff supporting children who present behaviours of concern ranging from moderate to higher levels of severity/intensity. We can assist organisations in benchmarking their current levels by using a tool which measures episodic severity.

Course Outcomes

  • Staff be able to use and teach a range of restrictive physical interventions designed to safely support people expressing behaviours of concern at higher levels of intensity.
  • Staff will have an acute understanding of the value base underpinning the application of these techniques including human rights and the principle of social validity.
  • Staff will be aware of the place of these techniques within the broader context of an individualised behaviour support plan specifically designed to reduce their use.

Generic Outcomes

  • Safer maintenance of placements for children with more complex needs
  • Fewer notifications to end placements
  • Safer environment for staff and service users
  • Long term sustainable reductions in RPI
  • Greater customer confidence
