Intermediate Physical Restraint and Breakaway Training
Duration – 1 or 2 Days
These courses introduce additional restraint and breakaway techniques as a supplement to those taught on the foundation course.
Who is this training suitable for?
Staff supporting children who present behaviours of concern ranging from moderate to higher levels of severity/intensity. We can assist organisations in benchmarking their current levels by using a tool which measures episodic severity.
Staff be able to use and teach a range of restrictive physical interventions designed to safely support people expressing behaviours of concern at higher levels of intensity.
Staff will have an acute understanding of the value base underpinning the application of these techniques including human rights and the principle of social validity.
Staff will be aware of the place of these techniques within the broader context of an individualised behaviour support plan specifically designed to reduce their use.
Generic Outcomes
• Safer maintenance of placements for children with more complex needs
